Tug O’ Lords is a new card game by Gigaloth. The game’s crowdfunding campaign is set to launch on Kickstarter October 18th. You can preview the Kickstarter page here, and find out more about the game here.
Do you like card games? Do you like fantasy? Do you like being cool?
If you answered “yes” to at least two of those three questions, then you’re going to like Tug O’ Lords. According to our own website, “Tug O’ Lords is a fast-paced fantasy card game where you control armies from all genres of fantasy to try and overtake your opponent’s castle.”
Let me add to that.
Tug O’ Lords borrows gameplay mechanics from tabletop card games like Dominion, Smash Up! and Munchkin. It also uses elements from collectible card games like Magic: The Gathering and even the new kid on the block: Hearthstone. If you like any of these games, you will enjoy Tug O’ Lords.
In fact, even if you’ve never heard of those games, you’ll probably like it too.
We’ve conducted a number of playtests for the game already with people that are both gamer geeks and people that are…um, not so much…and we’ve had good responses from both groups because of the quick pace of the game and the simple rules.
Because we are but a small independent game studio, we cannot afford to manufacture thousands of copies of the game and ship them to retailers and customers. Instead, we are funding the creation of the game through a crowdfunding website called Kickstarter. If you haven’t heard of Kickstarter or crowdfunding, you can follow the links to learn a little bit more about how it all works.
Basically though, we will need y’all’s help to make sure the game becomes a reality.
Our project is currently under construction (you can preview the whole thing HERE). The target date for the Kickstarter campaign is October 18th, and will run for roughly 30 days from start to finish (we are waiting on some tax confirmations from the IRS and Amazon). Based on the costs to print a minimum number of copies of the game, we are looking to raise $25,000. It sounds like a lot of money – and it is – but that’s what it costs just to get this thing off the ground…and cause us to lose money!
So please take the time to browse the preview page, create an account on Kickstarter, tell us what we can improve, and become involved in the project when it launches. We ain’t injecting ourselves with cash around here. Seriously though, we’ll need YOUR help to make Tug O’ Lords a reality.
To recap: I used “y’all”, “ain’t”, and linked a South Park clip. Pretty much a normal post for Gigaloth, no?
